Special Issue Guidelines for Pertanika Journal Submissions
Selected papers may be considered depending on the quality of the papers (will be decided
by the Pertanika Editorial in Chief).
- Number of papers – a maximum of 10 papers
- Guest Editors having H-index 5 and above
- The selected papers must be from different geographical regions and institutions (at least 30% based on the main/corresponding author), i.e. at least 30% International and 70% local
- Permits up to a maximum of 3 manuscripts by the same author in one issue provided the author sequence differs in each manuscript. e.g.,
- The review process : It will be carried out by the Pertanika Journal Editorial board using the suggested reviewers’ names provided by the Guest Editor. He / She will decide to decline/change the reviewers; or suggest additional reviewers. After receiving the reviewers’ reports, the Guest Editor will decide to accept or reject the paper. However, the final decision will be decided by the Pertanika Chief Executive Editor (CEE)/Editor in Chief (EIC).
If the Guest Editor submits any paper to his/her own Special Issue, the review process will be carried out by the Editorial board of the Pertanika journal without sharing any information to the Guest Editor.
Paper Format
Scholarly papers intended for publication in the Pertanika Journal must be written in the IMRAD format. The maximum length of a Research article should not exceed 6,000 words and Review article 8,000 words excluding the abstract, references, tables, and/or figures. Please refer to the Instruction to Authors for sample and reference.
The Pertanika Scientific Journals employ a plagiarism detection system. By submitting your paper to this journal, you accept that your manuscript may be screened for plagiarism against previously published works. The Pertanika does NOT accept any paper which similarity index exceeds 20%.

To request a Pertanika Special Issue, you need to fill out the Proposal form and submit to the Chief Executive Editor via e-mail at executive_editor.pertanika@upm.edu.my / pertanika1.admn@upm.edu.my
Papers accepted in the Special Issue can be published with on-going issues of the related Pertanika journal.
